From Grief to Herbal Healing
A journey from grief after the loss of a child to finding support through herbal healing.

Pots of herbs

Claudia passed at the end of August, just before the school year began.

What should have been a normal transition, bringing my oldest to 2nd grade and my second child to Kindergarten, became something entirely different.

I would hold it together for drop-off… and then come home to an empty house.
The silence was overwhelming.

I knew I needed support, something to steady my nerves and help me function,  but I also knew I didn’t want to go on antidepressants. This wasn’t something I wanted to numb or push away. I was living a new reality, and I wanted to find a way to move through it, not around it.

Finding Gentle Support

Through my connection with Juliana, a Vedic Astrologist, I was introduced to Bach Flower Remedies,  a system of plant-based remedies designed to support emotional balance.

She recommended specific remedies for grief, including Star of Bethlehem, traditionally used to support shock and emotional trauma.

There were others as well, each chosen for what I was experiencing at the time.
What I noticed wasn’t dramatic or overwhelming, it was subtle.

But it helped.

It took the edge off the anxiety.

It created just enough calm for me to get through the day.

It helped me feel a little more steady...

in a time when everything felt unsteady.

Daily Support During the Hardest Moments

One remedy I leaned on often was Rescue Remedy.

I would take a few drops before leaving the house each morning for school drop-off, one of the hardest parts of my day. It became something I could rely on.

A small ritual.
A quiet layer of support.

I would also use it anytime I knew I was walking into something emotionally difficult, being around people, facing a moment I didn’t feel ready for, or simply needing help holding myself together.

Where This Path Led Me

After everything I had been through — emotionally and spiritually — I began to look at health and healing differently.

During the time around COVID, I found myself questioning more. Not from fear, but from a growing awareness that I wanted to better understand how to support my body in a more natural and intentional way.

That curiosity led me deeper into the world of herbs and plant-based healing.

What started as interest quickly became something much more meaningful.

A Natural Extension of Healing

Herbal remedies felt aligned with what I was looking for — something gentle, supportive, and working with the body, not against it.

I wasn’t looking for a quick fix.

I was looking for support.

That’s what led me to begin creating my own herbal blends.

Blends designed to:

  • calm the nervous system

  • ease stress and anxiety

  • gently support the body during difficult emotional seasons

My Herbal Blends

If you feel drawn to this approach, I’ve created a small collection of teas and herbal remedies based on what supported me during my own healing.

These were created from experience, not theory.

If this approach resonates with you, you can explore them here:

One blend in particular — my Stress & Anxiety Tea, Tranquility — is especially calming and supportive during overwhelming moments.

I’m also in the process of creating additional blends specifically for grief support.

A Gentle Note

Herbal and flower remedies are not meant to replace medical care, but they can be a meaningful layer of support alongside your healing.

Everyone’s journey through grief is different.

This was one piece of mine.

If you’re navigating your own grief, I hope you find what supports you — in whatever form that takes.
